CAM
LEVERS
Models CL-4 and CL-5
CL-4 and CL-5 Cam Levers are designed to work with Dane size C4 and
C5 cams respectively, (SPC or BC). The distance between the center lines
of the cam shaft and the lever shaft is 4x4 inches or 5x5 inches respectively
as shown below. CAD files are available.
Features:
-
Lever bores allow oscillation around any commercial standard turned ground
and polished shaft, (TGP).
-
Lever bores are split for easy removal and machined on both sides to allow
clamping collars and or adjacent levers to ride against each other.
-
Grease fittings ported into annular groove within hub bearing surface provide
means for lubrication.
Selecting Cam Levers:
-
Use CL-4 cam levers for 12 to 24 inch dial machinery, model S4x4 Samson,
Dane machine bases BHP-1, MBLP-1, and MBLD-1, and model ILC-U and ILC-UL
In-Line Chassis.
-
Use CL-5 cam lever for 24-40 inch dial machinery, model S5-x5 Samson, Dane
machine bases MBHP-2, MBLP-2 and MBLD-2 and model ILC-L and ILC-UL In-Line
Chassis.
-
For plate cams, determine the desired direction for positive drive motion
either up or down.
-
Select lever style and its' pivot position based upon best location for
direct tool drive or intermediate crank arm connections per application.
-
The following are stroke limits for selected cam and lever combinations.
The 'minor' dimension applies to the stroke deflection from an orthagonal
orientation to a position that brings the follower toward the cam hub,
the 'major' applies to that toward the perimeter of the cam. The values
listed apply only at the lever length indicated,'L'. To calculate the actual
limit for a specific design lever length other than that listed, multiply
the design length by the listed limit value and then divide by the listed
length.

Ordering Options:
-
At additional cost, extra holes may be specified by chaining additional
length dimensions and hole codes to the order number. EXAMPLE: CL-4C-8.362-1-10.500-6
would indicate a #10-24 tapped hole at 8.362 inches plus an additional
.250 reamed hole at 10.500 inches. (The largest "L" dimension defines the
overall length unless it is specified to us to be otherwise.)
-
Standard size cam followers are available installed at additional cost.
Include the letter "F" in front of the order number.
-
Bronze Bushing inserts are available at additional cost. Include the letter
"B" in front of the order number.
-
Option Ordering Example: FBCL-4C-8.362-1-10.500-6
would indicate a CL-4C lever with #10-24 tapped hole at 8.362 inches, an
additional .250 reamed hole at 10.500 inches, include a 1.125 cam follower
and also be fitted with bronze bushing inserts.
